Registering Your Phone Numbers with Telecom Providers & Appealing your Spam Status
Why Registration Matters
To ensure the best calling experience on Pingdex, we recommend registering any phone numbers you’ll use to make more than 50 calls per day. Registering your numbers helps carriers correctly identify your calls, reduces the likelihood that they’ll be labeled as spam, and increases pickup rates.
You can register your numbers in two ways:
- Option 1 [recommended]: If you're using Pingdex-provided numbers, fill out our Trust Hub form and we’ll handle registration on your behalf.
- Option 2: If you're using your own numbers, register directly with the Free Caller Registry (FCR).
Option 1 [recommended]: Register Pingdex-Provided Numbers (Trust Hub)
If you obtain numbers through Pingdex, you can submit them through our Trust Hub form.
We will register your numbers with the carriers. Processing typically takes 48 hours–1 week, depending on Twilio.
Option 2: Bring Your Own Numbers — Step-by-Step Registration Guide
1. Visit the Free Caller Registry
Go to the official Free Caller Registry (FCR) website.
FCR allows you to register your numbers with the three major analytics providers used by U.S. carriers:
- Hiya – Analytics provider for AT&T
- TNS – Analytics provider for Verizon
- First Orion – Analytics provider for T-Mobile
2. Click “Register Here”
3. Complete the Registration Form
Provide your organization information and list all phone numbers you plan to use for calling.
4. Send Verification Code
Click “Send verification code.” FCR will immediately send a verification email.
5. Enter the Verification Code
Paste the code into the “Enter verification code from email” field.
6. Submit Registration
Click “Submit.”
Within 3–5 days, you’ll receive confirmation (or follow-up instructions) from the three analytics providers. Some may ask you to create an account to complete the process.
Best Practices to Avoid Being Marked as Spam
Carrier spam algorithms are intentionally opaque, but the following practices reduce the likelihood of your calls being flagged:
- Use valid, owned caller IDs (avoid shared VoIP numbers when possible).
- Warm up your numbers slowly with high-likelihood-of-answer calls.
- Avoid repeatedly calling invalid, unreachable, or out-of-service numbers.
- Prefer AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile numbers over Google Voice or basic Twilio DIDs.
- Avoid rapid-fire calling (multiple calls per minute).
- Aim to have longer, genuine, non-extractive conversations.
- Mix new outreach with follow-ups or resolicits to maintain healthy answer rates.
- Register your numbers using the Free Caller Registry.
